A new Warden is hello!
Hello everybody! I'm Anna (
pornographictoile) , I'm an RP ancient and this is the first real game I've been in in like a decade so please excuse all that dust flying around everywhere. I've brought you this lovely OC! You wanted one, right? You said you did. You can't take it back now. It's too late. I'm here.
This is Grace Gibson, a 23-year-old human who was in a terrible car accident, died for exactly eleven minutes and eleven seconds, and came back wrong. Now she has spooky ghostie powers and gives everyone the creeps! But she's really quite lovely once you get to know her, and can get those hairs on the back of your neck to stop standing straight on end when she's around (you can't, stop trying). She's a Libra, an amateur baker, and a virgin who can't drive.
You can find a thorough description of her power stuff here and her permissions here. I'm most easily reachable for stuff on Plurk so feel free to friend me there!
Also this is all Carolyn's fault for being a terrible enabler, blame Carolyn, I know I do.
EDIT: OH HEY Grace also has a playlist, because I'm one of Those People! Enjoy my terrible taste in music here!!!!

YEAH BASICALLY it can be really good, if done smartly/well, but otherwise it's just like, BLEHH THIS IS A THING YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND AND IT'S COMING TO GETCHA which is lazy and also like.... slightly offensive if you think about it a little

i like games like this because it lets you take villain trope characters and humanize them. villains & monsters are hard to play in dwrp, you really need a premise that suits putting them through their paces. i think my last 4 characters before volk were a lovecraftian horror, a dragon, a monster made by mad science, and an evil knight with a cursed sword lol

There should be more players like you who are unafraid to play The Bad Guy. unfortunately i am pathologically unable to allow myself to Not Be A Good Guy In Games, I look up the Best Path in choice-heavy RPGs. I can't even kill my Sims. THEY DEPEND ON ME.

but! i like to play characters in DWRP that have flaws that dont overlap with mine because it lets me have a better perspective. (i think when you get mun/character overlap on flaws it's kind of a time bomb, i say, sliding my eyes over to the game i just left .. , ) im completely comfortable playing characters who are in the wrong if the muns know that i know they're wrong lol .

...in that I'm so Over any kind of OOC drama, especially when it comes to morally grey or villainous characters doing in-character shit. Like the bad guy being bad gives my good character a chance to be good, why would anybody be pressed about that
also I love it when people make my characters sad/miserable/injured so maybe that's just my derangement

NO I THINK you're completely not alone in this, being a chronic villain player is almost like like being a chronic top in a website full of masochists?? (not to be nsfw)
like, if you've got a castbase who is used to reacting to actions in their canon - sailor moon, for instance, is not out there beginning fights, she gets called in only when someone has already caused a problem. you NEED someone who is going to play a proactive character that tosses stuff into the ring for others to react to. pro-activity is the #1 reason i like villains! they dont need to wait for someone else to start the plot for them! you also WANT someone who is checking at every stage during heavy shit that people are still comfortable with the plot/thread/events unfolding and someone that isnt just playing an edgelord so they can powertrip with no consequences.
& then people just kind of get, entitled to use your guy as an NPC whose player doesnt have feelings, or they simultaneously need someone to hurt their guy (know you'll try to make it work and say yes because RP is a "yes-and" hobby) and genuinely hate anybody who would approve of hurting their guy (but now its your fault)
sorry i , guess i have spicy takes on this topic. i did not know i was going to write that much
TRJ and TLV are great premises for villains is i guess my point, tough to play elsewhere. this is a great premise! love this premise. inspired shit
