Hi, I'm Lin, and I'm bringing in one Alex Mercer from the video game Prototype. I'm sticking strictly to the first game for most everything. It's a 10+year old game so hopefully no one mind's spoilers. Alex is grumpy, not very personable, and an asshole who's hard to gain the trust off. I, however, have been compared to a puppy in RL.

Hi Lin! Welcome to the game! I'm Jenn and I play Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed aaaand am on the mod team.

As I think I mentioned somewhere on plurk, I know almost nothing about Prototype, but I am looking forward to getting to know the man himself. I read your essay and thought it was pretty interesting too! Sometimes series jump the shark in weird ways or take characters in bizarre directions for the sake of making things ~dramatic~, and that's their prerogative naturally, but I think it makes Alex a really interesting inmate here. Reforming him here to prevent that nasty future is exactly the Navarch's MO... and knowing what he'll become/do in canon if he isn't diverted from that course makes for interesting canon fodder. Should be fun!!

I still haven't actually played Prototype 2, but that's more b/c I don't play many games anymore. And I just...disliked how they set it all up, even beyond my dislike of making Alex the villain. So Prototype the original is what I use and enjoy. ^^

I'm canon blind but for fandom osmosis about the AC series. I very much enjoyed our TDM thread though and am looking forward to playing. I've been excited since I saw this game b/c Redemption arcs! YAY!.

I feel you on not playing later games. I have not played an Assassin's Creed game since Origins and as far as I'm concerned the retcons to the metaplot are notttt my problem lmao. (Also they're set ages before Ezio was even born.) But if you ever wanna play Assassin's Creed, it's home to some of the best, most solid stories in gaming in the early years. Ezio's trilogy is incredible. Wouldn't give them up for the world.

I enjoyed our TDM thread too!! Looking forward to playing together. I love the redemption arcs thing, I ran an 18 month one with another character and it was one of the most rewarding things I've ever written in RP. Great time.

Hi!!! I'd heard of Prototype before but that's about it, but what I've seen from your stuff makes Alex seem super interesting. I'm excited to see what kind of inmate he'll be, especially at the very start of everything!

Loki was an inmate himself at TLV so if you ever wanna have them talk about what that was like, I'm totally up for that as an easy in for CR. +o+

I'm a sucker for a good redemption arc, even if the anti-hero stays a hero. :) I'm looking forward to playing with you too. Really a great and rewarding character arc is a thing of beauty, and part of why I love RP.

^^ Thank you. I find him very interesting as a character. Loki is also one of my favs, so I was VERY VERY excited to see and play with you. I definitely would like that, as Alex is more likely to 'trust' someone who's been through this. And/or who makes it clear "What's in it for you, doing this stuff?" aka what's the catch?.

And YEAH, it definitely seems suspicious to a newbie for an inmate to stick around and be a warden, to an extent, so that is a valid line of questioning.

I have a friend in TLV so have heard good things about your Loki. I'm excited to play off of him.

One of the possible outcomes I want for Alex actually is to have him go warden once he's fixed things.

It's going to be interesting to see if that happens quite as often here given the tonal/setting differences, but it's definitely a good fit for some folks if only because...yeah you wanna be alive again maybe but do you wanna be alive there? Maybe not lmao. Maybe need to fix that up.

FWIW, I'm very very nervous about my Loki even though people keep saying I'm doing fine. >.<

Alex definitely needs to get back and fix some things. But he'd probably also make a good warden. He's extremely skeptical, but the seeds of him 'turning good' are already in place. Sort of. (He'll never not be an anti-hero, I think...)

I'm looking forward to a stare-off between our two. B/c Alex is also known for his very silvery-blue-piercing gaze.

It is a lot of fun, and it's been a few years since I've binged it much. But I love it and this game seems good for Alex. I'm in the midst of Arcane, but I can already tell he and Silco are going to be....interesting. :)
